Dutch Youth Skating Day
On Tuesday, December 2, the Museumplein Ice Rink will be completely dedicated to Dutch Youth Skating Day. Hundreds of primary school children will have the chance to discover the joy of skating—right in the heart of Amsterdam, in front of the Rijksmuseum.
Dutch Youth Skating Day is the largest social skating initiative in the Netherlands, organized by the Sven Kramer Academy. Its goal is to introduce as many children as possible to the magic of skating. With natural ice becoming increasingly rare, it’s more important than ever for children to experience this sport.

Last season, no fewer than 14,000 primary school children enjoyed Youth Skating Days at various ice rinks across the Netherlands. This year, the event is coming to Amsterdam—and we are proud to host it!
During the day, children are guided by experienced skating instructors, learn their first steps on the ice, and have plenty of room for games and fun. For many, this will be their very first time on skates—a memorable experience they won’t soon forget.
We are really looking forward to welcoming Dutch Youth Skating Day to the Museumplein Ice Rink on December 2. Together, we’ll ensure that children in Amsterdam discover the joy of skating—and hopefully return to the ice many times to come.
