From 24 October 2026 to 16 January 2027, Museumplein Ice Rink returns to Amsterdam’s cultural heart. Right in the middle of Museumplein, we bring a centuries-old skating tradition back to life in a place where generations have taken to the ice.

Almost three months of winter at Museumplein

This winter, Museumplein once again becomes a winter meeting place for all ages. For almost three months, you can take to the ice every day and enjoy skating right in the middle of the city.

After skating, warm up at ’t Wak, the restaurant at Museumplein Ice Rink, for hot chocolate, a bite to eat or a full dinner. Throughout the season, there is also plenty to enjoy around the rink, with various activities and special winter moments.

Skating among Amsterdam’s icons

The location makes a visit to Museumplein Ice Rink even more special. While skating, you have the Rijksmuseum as your backdrop, with the Concertgebouw and Van Gogh Museum just a short walk away.

Museumplein has a long history of ice skating. People were already skating here at the end of the nineteenth century. With Museumplein Ice Rink, we continue that tradition and bring a piece of Amsterdam’s winter history back to the city each year.
