An age-old tradition
From November 8, 2025 – January 30, 2026, the Museumplein Ice Rink returns to the cultural heart of Amsterdam. Nestled between the Rijksmuseum, the Concertgebouw and the Van Gogh Museum, this atmospheric rink is a place where tradition, fun and togetherness come alive.
An ice rink once stood here between 1887 and 1937. In 1893, it hosted the very first official World Speed Skating Championships, won by Jaap Eden. With the Museumplein Ice Rink, we bring this cherished tradition back to life. Glide across the ice, warm up with traditional Dutch hot chocolate and cookies, and experience the magic of winter in the city.
