Ice-skating in the cultural heart of Amsterdam

What a winter! Over the past few months, we’ve truly enjoyed welcoming all our visitors to the Museumplein Ice Rink. Whether you came for your very first lap on the ice, a cozy drink with friends, a cup of hot chocolate, or simply to soak up the winter atmosphere, you made this season truly magical.

It was wonderful to see tradition, fun, and togetherness come together in the heart of Amsterdam. Thanks to you, it was a winter filled with smiles, laps around the ice, and unforgettable moments for young and old alike. We’re already eagerly looking forward to next year, when we’ll return with a new edition full of fun, winter magic, and warm memories.

An age-old tradition

From November 15, 2025 – February 6, 2026, the Museumplein Ice Rink returns to the cultural heart of Amsterdam. Nestled between the Rijksmuseum, the Concertgebouw and the Van Gogh Museum, this atmospheric rink is a place where tradition, fun and togetherness come alive.

An ice rink once stood here between 1887 and 1937. In 1893, it hosted the very first official World Speed Skating Championships, won by Jaap Eden. With the Museumplein Ice Rink, we bring this cherished tradition back to life. Glide across the ice, warm up with traditional Dutch hot chocolate and cookies, and experience the magic of winter in the city.
