Sensory-Friendly Skating

Every Monday afternoon from 12:00 to 14:00, the Skating Rink Museumplein offers the opportunity for sensory-friendly skating. This special session is intended for people who need a calm and low-stimulus environment, such as visitors with Long COVID, autism, burnout complaints, chronic overstimulation or other (invisible) disabilities.

This initiative was created in collaboration with the Long COVID Foundation and their partners, and makes it possible for everyone to enjoy skating in the heart of Amsterdam, in a way that feels safe and comfortable.

To create a low-stimulus environment, the following measures are taken:

  • No music or announcement sounds
  • Dimmed and constant lighting
  • Limited number of visitors on and around the skating rink

Although the afternoon is aimed at this specific group, sensory-friendly skating is also accessible to anyone who benefits from a quiet environment. Access is through a regular admission ticket, which can be purchased online via the ticket shop or at the on-site ticket office.
